Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan. (5 minutes)

02

Step

For the crust, in a mixing bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, and cold butter. Use a pastry blender or your fingers to cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. (10 minutes)

03

Step

Press the crust mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan. (2 minutes)

04

Step

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is lightly golden brown. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly while you prepare the filling. (12 minutes)

05

Step

For the filling, in a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until light and creamy. (3 minutes)

06

Step

Add 1/2 cup of Marzetti Old Fashioned Caramel Dip to the cream cheese and mix until smooth. (2 minutes)

07

Step

On low speed, mix in the flour, then add the egg and vanilla extract. Mix just until everything is blended. Be careful not to overmix. (2 minutes)

08

Step

Pour the cream cheese mixture evenly over the baked crust. Arrange the apple slices on top, gently pressing them into the cream cheese layer. (5 minutes)

09

Step

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the filling is set and the edges are lightly golden. (25 minutes)

10

Step

Allow the bars to cool to room temperature completely before covering and chilling in the refrigerator until firm. This will take at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight. (120 minutes)

11

Step

Before serving, spread the remaining 1/2 cup of Marzetti Old Fashioned Caramel Dip evenly over the top of the chilled bars. (3 minutes)

12

Step

Cut into squares and serve. Store covered in the refrigerator. (2 minutes)

For easier cutting, warm a sharp knife under hot water and wipe it clean between slices.
If you don't have Granny Smith apples, other tart apples like Honeycrisp or Braeburn will also work well.
Feel free to add a sprinkle of chopped pecans or walnuts on top of the caramel layer for added texture and flavor.
Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened before beating it, as it can effect the texture of the cheesecake.

My crust came out a little too crumbly. I think I overmixed it. But they still tasted amazing!
