Follow The Directions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). (5 minutes)

In a large bowl, pour milk over bread crumbs and let soak until softened, approximately 5 minutes. (5 minutes)

Combine ground beef, bread crumb mixture, diced onion, beaten egg, salt, and black pepper in the bowl. Mix gently but thoroughly. Shape into a loaf and transfer to a baking dish. (10 minutes)

In a separate small bowl, stir together ketchup, brown sugar, ground mustard, and ground nutmeg until smooth. Spread evenly over the meatloaf. (5 minutes)

Bake in the preheated oven until the meatloaf is no longer pink in the center and the internal temperature reaches at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C), about 1 hour. (60 minutes)

For extra flavor, try adding a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce to the meat mixture.
To prevent the meatloaf from drying out, place a pan of water on the lower rack of the oven while baking.
Let the meatloaf rest for 10-15 minutes after baking before slicing to allow the juices to redistribute.
