Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

02

Step

In a bowl, whisk together the brown gravy mix, water, and milk until smooth and fully dissolved.

03

Step

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon. Add the diced onion, drained mushrooms, and minced garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and the vegetables are softened, about 10-15 minutes. Drain off any excess grease.

04

Step

Stir in the gravy mixture, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat, cover, and let simmer for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

05

Step

Stir in the Cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, and cooked egg noodles. Transfer the mixture to a 9x13-inch casserole dish. Sprinkle the top with grated Parmesan cheese.

06

Step

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the noodles are heated through. Remove the foil during the last 5 minutes for extra browning on top.

For a richer flavor, use a high-quality ground beef with a higher fat content.
Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese. Gruyere, provolone, or Monterey Jack would all be delicious.
To add a touch of heat, include a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce to the beef mixture.
If you don't have egg noodles, you can substitute with other types of pasta, such as penne or rotini.
This casserole can be assembled ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking. Just add 10-15 minutes to the baking time.
