Follow The Directions

01

Step

Gently place the eggs in a saucepan and cover them completely with cold water. Bring the water to a rolling boil, then immediately remove the pan from the heat. Cover the pan and let the eggs stand in the hot water for precisely 15 minutes. (15 minutes)

02

Step

Drain the hot water and immediately immerse the eggs in a bowl of ice water. Allow them to cool completely, about 15 to 20 minutes. This stops the cooking process and makes them easier to peel. Drain the water again. (15-20 minutes)

03

Step

Carefully tap or gently roll each egg on a hard surface to create a network of fine cracks all over the shell, being careful not to pierce the membrane beneath. (5 minutes)

04

Step

Return the cracked eggs to the saucepan. Pour in enough fresh water to cover them completely. Add the soy sauce, molasses, salt, and tea bags to the water. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat. (5 minutes)

05

Step

Reduce the heat to low and let the eggs simmer gently for 30 minutes, allowing the intricate marbling effect to develop as the soy sauce and tea infuse through the cracks. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the eggs cool completely in the liquid. (30 minutes)

06

Step

Once the eggs are cool enough to handle, carefully peel them. Slice each egg lengthwise and gently scoop out the yolks into a mixing bowl. (10 minutes)

07

Step

Add the mayonnaise and minced red bell pepper to the yolks. Season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Mix thoroughly until the filling is smooth, creamy, and well combined. (5 minutes)

08

Step

Carefully spoon the yolk mixture back into the hollowed egg white halves, mounding it slightly and smoothing the surface. Gently press the two halves of each egg back together. (10 minutes)

09

Step

Spread the salsa artfully on a serving plate. Arrange the assembled dragon eggs upright on the salsa, creating a visually striking presentation. (5 minutes)

For an extra layer of flavor, try using smoked paprika or a dash of hot sauce in the yolk mixture.
If you prefer a smoother filling, you can use a food processor to blend the yolks with the mayonnaise and spices.
Guacamole can be used instead of salsa, or serve alongside the eggs.
