Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat over medium-high heat. Crumble Italian sausage and add to the skillet along with the diced onion. Cook, breaking up the sausage with a spoon, until the sausage is browned and cooked through, and the onion is softened and translucent (approximately 8 minutes).

02

Step

Stir in the chicken broth, diced tomatoes (with their juices), farfalle pasta, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender (approximately 10 minutes).

03

Step

Gently stir in the ricotta cheese and continue cooking until the ricotta is fully incorporated into the soup, creating a creamy texture (approximately 2-3 minutes).

04

Step

Ladle the soup into individual serving bowls. Garnish each bowl with 2 tablespoons of shredded mozzarella cheese, 1 tablespoon of grated Parmesan cheese, and 1/2 tablespoon of freshly chopped basil.

For a richer flavor, use a combination of sweet and hot Italian sausage.
To prevent the pasta from sticking, stir the soup frequently during the simmering process.
If you prefer a thinner soup, add more chicken broth to reach your desired consistency.
For an extra layer of flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a splash of dry red wine during the cooking process.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave.
