Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease baking sheets. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg until well combined, then gradually stir in the flour until just incorporated. (10 minutes)

03

Step

In a small bowl, lightly whisk the egg white. Place the finely chopped walnuts in another small bowl. Roll the dough into small, even balls (about 1 inch in diameter). Dip each ball into the egg white, allowing excess to drip off, then roll in the chopped walnuts, ensuring they are fully coated. (20 minutes)

04

Step

Place the nut-coated cookies onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving a small space between each. Gently press an indention into the center of each cookie with your finger or the back of a small spoon. (5 minutes)

05

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown. (10 minutes)

06

Step

Remove the cookies from the oven and immediately press an unwrapped chocolate kiss into the center indention of each cookie. (5 minutes)

07

Step

Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely. (5 minutes)

For a richer flavor, toast the walnuts lightly before chopping.
Ensure the butter is properly softened to achieve a smooth and creamy dough.
The egg white helps the nuts adhere to the cookies and adds a slight sheen after baking.
Do not overbake the cookies; they should be soft and slightly golden around the edges.
If the chocolate kisses melt too much upon contact with the hot cookies, chill the cookies in the refrigerator for a few minutes before adding the kisses.
