For a richer flavor, try using melted butter instead of vegetable oil in the dough. If you don't have instant yeast, you can use active dry yeast. Just be sure to proof it in the warm milk for about 5-10 minutes before adding the other ingredients. The dough can be made ahead of time and refrigerated for up to 24 hours. Just bring it to room temperature before rolling and frying.
