Follow The Directions
01
Step
5 mins
In a large, chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. (Approximately 5 minutes)
02
Step
2 mins
Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese until just combined, being careful not to overmix. Set aside. (Approximately 2 minutes)
03
Step
5 mins
In a blender or food processor, puree half of the strawberries until smooth. In a separate bowl, combine the pureed strawberries with the remaining whole strawberries. (Approximately 5 minutes)
04
Step
3 mins
In a trifle bowl or serving dish, create the first layer: Arrange 1/3 of the angel food cake cubes at the bottom. (Approximately 3 minutes)
05
Step
3 mins
Spoon 1/3 of the strawberry mixture over the cake, followed by 1/3 of the blueberries. (Approximately 3 minutes)
06
Step
2 mins
Gently spread 1/3 of the mascarpone cream mixture over the fruit. (Approximately 2 minutes)
07
Step
10 mins
Repeat layers twice, ending with the remaining cream mixture on top. (Approximately 10 minutes)
08
Step
2 hrs
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld. (Chill for at least 120 minutes)
09
Step
3 mins
Just before serving, use a vegetable peeler or microplane to shave curls of dark chocolate over the top of the Red, White, and Blue-Misu. (Approximately 3 minutes)
For best results, use high-quality mascarpone cheese. Its rich, creamy texture is essential to the dessert's overall flavor.
If fresh berries are not available, you can use frozen berries, but be sure to thaw them completely and drain any excess liquid before using.
To prevent the angel food cake from becoming soggy, avoid soaking it in the berry puree. Gently layer the ingredients instead.
Feel free to experiment with different types of berries or fruits to customize your Red, White, and Blue-Misu. Raspberries, blackberries, or even sliced peaches would be delicious additions.
For a more intense chocolate flavor, use a dark chocolate with a higher cocoa percentage.
