Follow The Directions

01

Step

Gather all of your ingredients, ensuring everything is prepped and ready to go.

02

Step

Cook the spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside, keeping it warm. (Prep time: ~12-15 minutes)

03

Step

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, flipping once, until they are almost opaque. (Cook time: ~2-3 minutes)

04

Step

Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside on a plate. Add the sliced garlic and crushed red pepper to the skillet. Sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Be careful not to burn the garlic! (Cook time: ~1 minute)

05

Step

Stir in the diced fire-roasted tomatoes (undrained), tomato sauce, fresh basil, balsamic vinegar, dried oregano, and kosher salt. Bring the sauce to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, for about 10 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly. (Simmer time: ~10 minutes)

06

Step

Return the shrimp to the skillet with the sauce and simmer for about 1 minute, until the shrimp is heated through. (Cook time: ~1 minute)

07

Step

Serve the Shrimp Marinara immediately over the warm spaghetti. Garnish with additional fresh basil leaves.

For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a splash of dry white wine to the skillet after sautéing the garlic. Let it reduce slightly before adding the tomatoes.
If you prefer a smoother sauce, you can use an immersion blender to partially blend the marinara before adding the shrimp back in.
Fresh oregano can be substituted for dried, use about 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh oregano.
Adjust the amount of crushed red pepper to your desired level of spiciness.
For a richer sauce, add a tablespoon of butter at the end.
