For a deeper caramel flavor, use dark brown sugar. A pinch of ground cloves or ginger can be added for extra warmth. If you don't have pineapple juice, apple juice or orange juice can be substituted. If the sauce is too thin at the end of the cooking time, remove the lid and cook on High for 15-30 minutes to allow it to reduce and thicken. Serve with a sprinkle of chopped pecans or walnuts for added texture.
