Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour and white sugar. Cut in cold, cubed butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. (10 minutes)

03

Step

Press the flour mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9-inch square baking pan. (5 minutes)

04

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool slightly, leaving the oven on. (20 minutes)

05

Step

In a separate bowl, whisk together the beaten eggs and melted butter. Whisk in the brown sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, baking powder, and vanilla extract until smooth. (5 minutes)

06

Step

Stir in the raisins and chopped pecans. Pour the mixture evenly over the pre-baked crust. (3 minutes)

07

Step

Return to the oven and bake until the filling is set and the top springs back lightly when touched, about 20-25 minutes. (25 minutes)

08

Step

Let cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. (60 minutes)

For a richer flavor, use brown butter instead of melted butter in the filling.
Toast the pecans lightly before chopping to enhance their nutty flavor.
If you prefer a less chewy texture, reduce the amount of brown sugar slightly.
Store the butter tart squares in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
