Follow The Directions

01

Step

Prepare the Simple Syrup: In a saucepan, combine the 2/3 cup sugar and 1/3 cup water. (2 minutes) Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved. (3-5 minutes) Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. (20 minutes)

02

Step

Make the Sour Mix: In a pitcher, briskly stir together the 2 1/4 cups water, fresh lemon juice, 1/4 cup sugar, and egg white until well combined. (2-3 minutes)

03

Step

Combine and Chill: In a shaker, combine the ice cubes, premium tequila, Cointreau, fresh lime juice, 1 ounce of the simple syrup, and 1/2 cup of the sour mix. Close the shaker tightly and shake vigorously to chill and infuse the mixture (8-15 seconds).

04

Step

Salt the Rims: Run a lime wedge along the rim of an 8-ounce glass. Spread the kosher salt onto a plate and gently dip the glass rims into the salt to coat evenly. Add fresh ice cubes to the prepared glasses if desired.

05

Step

Strain and Serve: Strain the margarita mixture from the shaker into the salted glasses. Garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately.

For the best flavor, use freshly squeezed lemon and lime juice. Avoid bottled juices if possible.
Adjust the sweetness of the margarita by adding more or less simple syrup to taste.
If you don't have Cointreau, you can substitute it with another orange liqueur, such as Grand Marnier or Triple Sec.
For a smoother margarita, you can use pasteurized egg whites or omit the egg white altogether. The egg white adds a frothy texture to the drink.
Serve immediately after preparing to prevent the ice from melting and diluting the margarita.
