Follow The Directions

01

Step
15 mins

Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). (15 minutes)

02

Step
5 mins

In a large Dutch oven, create a bed with the sliced onions, halved potatoes, and baby carrots. (5 minutes)

03

Step
2 mins

Place the beef brisket on top of the vegetable medley. (2 minutes)

04

Step
3 mins

In a separate bowl, whisk together the beef broth, dry onion soup mix, ketchup, and ginger ale until well combined. (3 minutes)

05

Step
2 mins

Pour the sauce evenly over the brisket and vegetables. Ensure the brisket is mostly submerged. (2 minutes)

06

Step
1 mins

Cover the Dutch oven tightly with its lid. (1 minute)

07

Step
2 hrs 30 mins

Transfer the Dutch oven to the preheated oven and braise for 2 1/2 hours, or until the brisket is incredibly tender and easily pierced with a fork. (150 minutes)

08

Step
20 mins

Let the brisket rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing against the grain and serving with the braised vegetables and pan juices.

For an even richer flavor, sear the brisket on all sides in the Dutch oven before adding the vegetables.
Feel free to substitute other root vegetables like parsnips or turnips for the carrots.
If you prefer a less sweet flavor, use diet ginger ale or reduce the amount of ketchup.
The brisket can be made a day ahead and reheated for even deeper flavor.

I've made brisket many times, but this is by far the best. The ginger ale adds a unique touch that really elevates the dish.
