Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a medium bowl, combine the diced apples, 1/4 cup brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, and 1/8 teaspoon salt. Toss gently to ensure the apples are evenly coated with the spices and sugar. (5 minutes)

03

Step

Lightly coat four individual-sized ramekins with nonstick cooking spray. Divide the apple mixture evenly among the ramekins. Cover each ramekin tightly with aluminum foil. Air fry for approximately 20 minutes, or until the apples are tender when pierced with a fork.

04

Step

While the apples are cooking, prepare the oatmeal streusel. In the same bowl (no need to wash it!), combine the oats, flour, 1/4 cup brown sugar, cubed cold butter, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/8 teaspoon salt. Use your fingertips or a pastry blender to cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Place the streusel in the refrigerator to keep the butter cold until ready to use. (10 minutes)

05

Step

Carefully remove the ramekins from the air fryer. Discard the foil. Evenly distribute the streusel topping over the apples in each ramekin. Air fry, uncovered, for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the streusel is golden brown and crispy. (7 minutes)

06

Step

Let the apple crisps cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, on its own, or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce.

For best results, use cold butter when making the streusel topping. This will help create a more crumbly and crisp topping.
Feel free to experiment with different apple varieties to find your favorite flavor combination. A mix of tart and sweet apples works particularly well.
If you don't have ramekins, you can use a small, oven-safe baking dish. Adjust the cooking time accordingly.
Store leftover apple crisp in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer or oven until warmed through.
