Follow The Directions

01

Step

Prepare the Tonkatsu Sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the ketchup, soy sauce, brown sugar, sherry, Worcestershire sauce, and minced garlic until the sugar is fully dissolved. Set aside. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). This ensures even cooking and optimal crispness. (5 minutes)

03

Step

Season the Pork: Place the pork loin chops on a clean work surface. Pat them dry with paper towels, then season generously on both sides with salt and freshly ground black pepper. (2 minutes)

04

Step

Set Up Breading Stations: In a shallow dish, beat the eggs lightly. In a separate shallow dish, spread the panko bread crumbs evenly. (2 minutes)

05

Step

Bread the Pork Chops: Dip each pork chop into the beaten eggs, ensuring it's fully coated. Then, dredge the chop in the panko bread crumbs, pressing firmly to ensure the crumbs adhere well. For an extra crispy coating, dip the chop back into the egg and then again into the panko. Repeat with the remaining pork chops. (15 minutes)

06

Step

Air Fry the Tonkatsu: Place the breaded pork chops in the preheated air fryer basket, making sure they are not overcrowded. Spray the tops of the chops generously with nonstick cooking spray. Air fry for 10 minutes. (10 minutes)

07

Step

Flip and Continue Cooking: Carefully flip the pork chops using a spatula. Spray the tops with nonstick cooking spray again. Continue to air fry for another 10 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees F (63 degrees C) when measured with an instant-read thermometer. (10 minutes)

08

Step

Rest and Serve: Transfer the cooked pork chops to a cutting board and let them rest for a few minutes before slicing. Slice each chop into strips and serve immediately with the prepared Tonkatsu sauce. (5 minutes)

For best results, use pork loin chops that are about 1/2-inch thick. This ensures even cooking and prevents the pork from drying out.
Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary to ensure proper air circulation and even cooking.
Feel free to adjust the sauce ingredients to suit your taste preferences. For a spicier sauce, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce.
Serve with steamed rice, shredded cabbage, and a side of miso soup for a complete and authentic Tonkatsu experience.
