Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a large bowl, combine the chicken pieces with the chopped onion, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, allspice, onion powder, cumin, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Ensure the chicken is thoroughly coated in the marinade. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or up to 8 hours, to allow the flavors to meld (Marinate for 1-8 hours).

02

Step

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking (Prep time: 5 minutes).

03

Step

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces, reserving the remaining marinade in the bowl. Pan-fry the chicken until browned on all sides, approximately 5 minutes per side. This step seals in the juices and adds a beautiful color to the chicken (Cook time: 20 minutes).

04

Step

Transfer the browned chicken pieces to the prepared baking dish. Pour the reserved marinade over the chicken, ensuring it's evenly distributed (Prep time: 5 minutes).

05

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 40 minutes, or until the chicken juices run clear when pierced with a fork and an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part registers at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C) (Bake time: 40 minutes).

For an even deeper flavor, consider adding a splash of orange juice or a dash of smoked paprika to the marinade.
Serve this Cuban chicken with traditional accompaniments such as black beans and rice, plantains, or a fresh avocado salad.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the oven or microwave.

I didn't have allspice so I used a little cinnamon and nutmeg and it worked great.
