Follow The Directions

01

Step
5 mins

Partially cook the bacon: In a skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until it's just beginning to render its fat but still pliable, about 5 minutes. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain. This will help the bacon crisp up on the grill without burning.

02

Step
2 mins

Prepare the chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Season evenly with salt and pepper. Wrap each breast with two slices of partially cooked bacon, securing with toothpicks.

03

Step
1 mins

Make the BBQ glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and minced garlic until well combined.

04

Step
2 mins

Grill the chicken: Preheat your grill to medium heat (about 350°F or 175°C). Brush the bacon-wrapped chicken breasts generously with half of the BBQ glaze.

05

Step
16 mins

Grill, turning and basting: Place the chicken on the grill, close the lid, and grill for 6-8 minutes per side. Turn the chicken, baste with more glaze, and continue grilling for another 6-8 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the bacon is crisp and golden brown. Baste one last time during the final minutes of cooking.

06

Step
5 mins

Serve: Remove the chicken from the grill, squeeze fresh lemon juice over each breast, and garnish with chopped chives. Remove toothpicks before serving. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

For a richer flavor, use smoked bacon.
If you don't have a grill, you can bake the chicken in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 25-30 minutes, or until cooked through.
The BBQ glaze can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
