Follow The Directions

01

Step

Heat approximately 1/8 inch of vegetable oil in two large, heavy-bottomed skillets over medium-high heat until shimmering. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Set up a breading station: In separate shallow dishes, place the flour mixture (flour, salt, and pepper), beaten eggs and milk mixture, and Italian seasoned bread crumbs.

03

Step

Dredge each walleye fillet first in the flour mixture, ensuring it's fully coated. Then, dip into the egg wash, allowing excess to drip off. Finally, press the fillet into the bread crumbs, ensuring an even coating on both sides. (10 minutes)

04

Step

Carefully place 4 fillets in each hot skillet, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for approximately 5-7 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. (15 minutes)

05

Step

Remove the fried walleye fillets and place them on a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve immediately. (2 minutes)

For extra crispy walleye, try using panko breadcrumbs instead of Italian seasoned breadcrumbs.
Serve with lemon wedges, tartar sauce, or a splash of malt vinegar for a classic touch.
Ensure the oil is hot enough before adding the fish; this helps prevent the breading from becoming soggy.
Adjust seasoning to your preference, consider adding garlic powder or paprika to the flour mixture for an extra layer of flavor.
