Follow The Directions

01

Step

Gently warm the olive oil in a medium saucepan over low heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until it becomes translucent, being careful not to brown it. Add the finely chopped onion and cook over low heat until translucent, approximately 5 to 10 minutes.

02

Step

Stir in the dried parsley, dried basil, and freshly ground black pepper. Add the drained Italian-style stewed tomatoes, cover the saucepan, and raise the heat to medium, bringing the sauce to a strong simmer. Lower the heat and add the crushed red pepper flakes. Cover the saucepan and allow the sauce to cook for 25 to 35 minutes.

03

Step

Continue to cook the sauce over medium-low heat, uncovered, for about 10 minutes, or until it thickens to your liking. For a smoother consistency, use a food processor and pulse for 2 to 3 seconds.

04

Step

While the sauce is simmering, bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add the angel hair pasta and cook until al dente, approximately 6 to 8 minutes. Drain the pasta and serve immediately with the prepared red sauce.

For the best flavor, use high-quality canned Italian stewed tomatoes. Their sweetness and acidity will provide a superior base for your sauce.
Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your preference. A pinch will provide a gentle warmth, while a larger amount will add a noticeable kick.
Feel free to experiment with other herbs and spices. A bay leaf or a pinch of oregano can add depth and complexity to the sauce.
If you prefer a richer sauce, add a tablespoon of tomato paste along with the stewed tomatoes. This will also help to thicken the sauce.
For a vegetarian option, consider adding sautéed vegetables such as mushrooms, bell peppers, or zucchini to the sauce during the simmering process.
