Flip, then add shallots, garlic, thyme, and butter to the skillet. Cook to desired doneness (4-5 minutes more for medium-rare). Rest steak for 5 minutes before slicing thinly.

If you don't have hazelnuts, walnuts or pecans can be substituted.
Hanger steak is best served medium-rare to medium.
