Follow The Directions

01

Step
0 mins

In a large bowl, gently combine the ground beef, pork sausage, bread crumbs, diced onion, milk, egg, chopped parsley, salt, Worcestershire sauce, and pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix. Gently form the mixture into small, uniform meatballs.

02

Step
7 mins

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the meatballs in the skillet in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Pan-fry the meatballs, turning frequently, until they are browned on all sides and cooked through, about 6 to 8 minutes.

03

Step
18 mins

In a separate deep saucepan, whisk together the boiling water, sour cream, all-purpose flour, paprika, and pepper until smooth. Place the saucepan over low heat and gently bring the sauce to a simmer, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Add the browned meatballs to the sauce and let them simmer gently until the sauce has thickened and the meatballs are heated through, about 15 to 20 minutes.

For extra flavor, try browning the meatballs in butter instead of oil.
Serve these Swedish meatballs with creamy mashed potatoes, lingonberry jam, and pickled cucumbers for a truly authentic Swedish experience.
If you don't have fresh parsley, you can substitute 1 teaspoon of dried parsley.
To prevent the meatballs from sticking to the pan, make sure the skillet is well-heated before adding the meatballs.
