Follow The Directions

01

Step
2 mins

Prepare the Instant Pot: Place a steamer basket inside the Instant Pot. Pour 1/2 cup of water into the pot, ensuring the water level remains below the steamer basket. (2 minutes)

02

Step
3 mins

Prep the Garlic: On a cutting board, carefully slice off the top quarter-inch of the garlic head, exposing the individual cloves. This allows the oil to penetrate and the garlic to roast evenly. (3 minutes)

03

Step
2 mins

Season and Place: Set the garlic head, cut-side up, into the steamer basket. Drizzle generously with olive oil, allowing it to seep into the exposed cloves. Sprinkle with sea salt to enhance the flavor. (2 minutes)

04

Step
25 mins

Pressure Cook: Secure the Instant Pot lid, ensuring the valve is set to the 'Sealing' position. Select the 'Manual' or 'Pressure Cook' function and set the timer for 10 minutes. Allow 10-15 minutes for the pressure to build inside the pot.

05

Step
10 mins

Release Pressure: Once the cooking cycle is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes. Then, carefully perform a quick release to vent any remaining pressure. (10 minutes)

06

Step
5 mins

Cool and Extract: Carefully remove the garlic head from the Instant Pot and let it cool slightly until it's comfortable to handle. (5 minutes)

07

Step

Enjoy: Once cooled, gently squeeze the roasted garlic from the head. The cloves should easily slide out, revealing a soft, buttery, and intensely flavorful puree.

For a deeper, more complex flavor, try using infused olive oil, such as rosemary or chili oil.
Roasted garlic can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Cover the roasted garlic with olive oil to help preserve it.
Don't discard the garlic-infused oil left in the steamer basket! It's delicious for sautéing vegetables or drizzling over pasta.

My garlic wasn't quite as soft as I wanted it, so I added 5 more minutes to the cooking time and it was perfect.
