For a richer flavor, use Gruyere or Fontina cheese in place of, or in addition to, the Cheddar. Add a handful of chopped vegetables, such as bell peppers, onions, or spinach, for added nutrients and flavor. Cooked and crumbled sausage or bacon can be added to the egg mixture for a heartier casserole. If you don't have small-curd cottage cheese, ricotta cheese works as a great substitute. Adjust the amount of hot sauce to your preference. A dash of black pepper can also be added for extra spice. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven.

May 18, 2025I found that 25 minutes was a little too long in my oven, so I'd recommend checking it after 20 minutes.
