For a richer flavor, consider using full-fat milk. Ensure your yeast is fresh for the best rise. Adjust baking time as needed based on your oven. The bread is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Experience the serene flavors of the East with this Matcha Green Tea Bread. Infused with vibrant matcha powder, this loaf offers a delicate balance of subtle sweetness and earthy undertones, creating a truly unique and aromatic baking experience.
In a large bowl, whisk together the bread flour, 1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons of superfine sugar, matcha powder, instant yeast, and salt. Create a well in the center, then pour in ½ cup plus 2 tablespoons of milk and the lightly beaten egg. Mix until a soft dough begins to form. (5 minutes)
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 5 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and less sticky. Incorporate the 1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons of unsalted butter into the dough and continue kneading for approximately 15 minutes, until the dough is smooth, elastic, and no longer adheres to the work surface.
Form the dough into a smooth ball and place it in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Gently transfer the risen dough onto a lightly floured work surface. Punch it down to release the accumulated air. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a large rectangle, slightly wider than the length of your loaf pan and as long as possible. Tightly roll the dough up, Swiss-roll style, and pinch the seam to seal it securely. Place the rolled dough, seam-side down, into a lightly greased loaf pan. Cover the pan with plastic wrap and let the dough rise until it fills approximately 80% of the pan, which should take around 45 to 60 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until it's beautifully golden brown.
Immediately remove the bread from the loaf pan and transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing. Allow at least 30 minutes for cooling.
For a richer flavor, consider using full-fat milk. Ensure your yeast is fresh for the best rise. Adjust baking time as needed based on your oven. The bread is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
