Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch square baking pan, or line with parchment paper. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter, hazelnut liqueur, and chocolate-hazelnut spread, stirring until smooth and just beginning to bubble. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. (5 minutes)

03

Step

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. (2 minutes)

04

Step

In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until light and creamy. Gradually add the slightly cooled butter mixture, mixing until well combined. (3 minutes)

05

Step

Gently fold the flour mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips, if using. (2 minutes)

06

Step

Pour batter into prepared pan. If desired, dollop extra Nutella on top of the batter and swirl with a knife or toothpick. (2 minutes)

07

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until the top is dry and the edges start to pull away from the sides of the pan, approximately 20-25 minutes. A toothpick inserted into the center may still have some moist crumbs attached.

08

Step

Let brownies cool completely in the pan for at least 2 hours before cutting into squares. (120 minutes)

For a richer hazelnut flavor, use hazelnut extract in place of vanilla.
Do not overbake the brownies. They should be slightly fudgy in the center.
Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dusting of powdered sugar for an extra-special treat.
