For a smoother relish, pulse the ingredients briefly in a food processor after combining. If you prefer a sweeter relish, add a tablespoon or two of honey or maple syrup to taste. Toast the walnuts lightly in a dry skillet before chopping to enhance their flavor and crunch. Fresh cranberries can be used in place of canned cranberry sauce. Cook them down with sugar and a little water until softened before adding to the relish.
