Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease a 13 x 9 inch pan and set aside.

02

Step

Combine the crumbled graham crackers and crispy rice cereal in a large bowl. Mix well and set aside.

03

Step

In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the corn syrup and brown sugar. Stir occasionally until the mixture begins to boil around the edges (approximately 4-5 minutes). Alternatively, combine corn syrup and sugar in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high until the syrup boils (about 2 minutes). Stir in the butter, baking soda, and vanilla extract until well combined.

04

Step

Pour the syrup mixture over the graham cracker-cereal mixture, stirring to coat evenly. Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and press firmly to create an even top.

05

Step

Arrange the chocolate bar pieces in a single layer over the cereal mixture. Sprinkle the mini marshmallows evenly over the chocolate.

06

Step

Transfer the pan to the preheated oven and bake until the marshmallows are puffed and lightly browned (approximately 5-8 minutes).

07

Step

Remove the bars from the oven and immediately sprinkle with the mini chocolate chips.

08

Step

Refrigerate the bars for at least 1 hour, or until firm. Cut into squares and serve.

For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate.
Store these bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Add a pinch of sea salt on top for a sweet and salty flavor combination.

I substituted peanut butter chips for some of the chocolate chips and it was a huge hit!

Next time I'm going to try using different kinds of cereal to add some variety.

My marshmallows didn't get as browned as I wanted, so I broiled them for a minute at the end. Be careful not to burn them!

I made these for a bake sale and they were the first thing to sell out!
