Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Lightly coat a 9-inch fluted tart pan with removable bottom with cooking spray. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a medium bowl, cream together 1/2 cup sugar and butter until crumbly. Gradually beat in flour and almonds until just combined. Press mixture evenly into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared tart pan. (10 minutes)

03

Step

In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth and fluffy. Gradually beat in 1/4 cup sugar, egg, and almond extract until well combined. Spread cream cheese mixture evenly over the crust. Arrange pear slices attractively over the cream cheese layer. (15 minutes)

04

Step

In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon sugar, cardamom, and cinnamon. Sprinkle mixture evenly over the pears. (5 minutes)

05

Step

Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350°F (175°C). Continue baking until filling is set and an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center reads 160°F (71°C), approximately 15-20 minutes. (30 minutes)

06

Step

Cool tart on a wire rack for at least 1 hour. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before slicing and serving. (3 hours)

For a deeper almond flavor, toast the chopped almonds lightly before adding them to the crust mixture.
If you don't have almond extract, vanilla extract can be substituted.
Fresh pears can be used instead of canned. Peel, core, and thinly slice about 2 medium pears.
Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra touch of decadence.
