For extra flavor, try searing the chicken breasts in a hot pan for a few minutes per side before placing them in the slow cooker. Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your liking. For a milder flavor, omit them altogether. If you don't have apple cider vinegar, white vinegar or lemon juice can be substituted. This recipe doubles easily for a larger crowd. Just adjust the amount of chicken and barbecue sauce accordingly. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
