Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, pepper, and paprika. Set aside. (2 minutes)

03

Step

In a 2-quart casserole dish, dissolve the bouillon cube in boiling water. Whisk in sherry, tomato soup, garlic powder, sugar, oregano, thyme, and rosemary until well blended. Set aside. (5 minutes)

04

Step

Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Toss beef in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Brown the beef on all sides in the hot oil. (15 minutes)

05

Step

Transfer the browned beef to the casserole dish. Reduce heat to medium. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes. (7 minutes)

06

Step

Stir the softened onion into the beef mixture in the casserole dish. Cover, and bake in the preheated oven until the meat is very tender, approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours.

For a richer flavor, consider searing the beef in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
Adjust the amount of sherry to your preference. Red wine can also be used as a substitute.
Serve over pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes for a complete and satisfying meal.

I made this in my slow cooker, and it was perfect. Just browned the beef and onions first, then let it simmer all day.
