Follow The Directions

01

Step

Prepare the Steaming Setup: Fill a large saucepan with 1 to 2 inches of water and bring to a rolling boil. (2 minutes)

02

Step

Season and Prepare the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season generously with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Drizzle with the juice of 1/2 lemon. (2 minutes)

03

Step

Steam the Salmon: Place the salmon fillets in a steamer basket. Carefully place the steamer basket into the saucepan, ensuring the water doesn't touch the salmon. Cover tightly and steam until the salmon is easily flaked with a fork, approximately 7-8 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets. (8 minutes)

04

Step

Prepare the Olive-Caper Dressing: While the salmon is steaming, in a small bowl, whisk together the sliced olives, olive oil, drained capers, and remaining lemon juice. Season to taste with salt and pepper. (5 minutes)

05

Step

Assemble and Serve: Once the salmon is cooked, gently remove it from the steamer basket and place it on serving plates. Spoon the olive-caper dressing generously over the top of each fillet. Garnish with fresh dill and thin slices of lemon. Serve immediately. (2 minutes)

For extra flavor, try adding a sprig of rosemary or thyme to the steaming water.
If you don't have a steamer basket, you can use a heatproof plate elevated on a metal rack inside the saucepan.
Ensure the salmon is cooked through but still moist. Overcooking will result in dry salmon.
Serve with a side of quinoa, couscous, or a simple green salad for a complete and balanced meal.
