In a medium saucepan, combine water, five-spice powder, butter, bouillon cube, ginger, and black pepper. (2 minutes)

02

5 mins

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the bouillon cube is completely dissolved. (5 minutes)

03

Step
1 mins

Add the rinsed and drained red quinoa to the saucepan; stir to combine. (1 minute)

04

Step
20 mins

Reduce heat to a low simmer, cover the saucepan tightly, and cook until all the water is absorbed and the quinoa is tender. (Approximately 20 minutes)

05

Step
5 mins

Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 5 minutes to allow the quinoa to fully absorb any remaining moisture. (5 minutes)

06

Step

Fluff with a fork before serving. Enjoy!

For a vegetarian option, substitute the beef bouillon cube with a vegetable bouillon cube or 1 teaspoon of soy sauce.
To add extra flavor, toast the quinoa in a dry pan for 2-3 minutes before cooking.
Leftover quinoa can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
