Follow The Directions

01

Step
0 mins

In a large stockpot, combine the Italian-style tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, diced potatoes, chopped onions, chopped carrots, chopped green bell pepper, chopped red bell pepper, chopped celery, and chopped jalapeño peppers.

02

Step
0 mins

In a small saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Stir in the chicken bouillon and beef bouillon cubes until dissolved. Pour the bouillon mixture over the tomato and vegetable mixture in the stockpot.

03

Step
1 hrs 30 mins

Stir in the tomato and clam juice cocktail, sugar, thyme leaves, chili powder, garlic salt, black pepper, and bay leaf into the stockpot. Cook the chowder, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are very tender.

04

Step
7 mins

In a separate saucepan, combine the chopped clams, skim milk, and all-purpose flour. Cook and stir over low heat until the clams are heated through.

05

Step
30 mins

Stir the clam mixture into the stockpot and simmer until the flavors combine.

For a smoother chowder, use an immersion blender to partially blend the vegetables before adding the clams.
Adjust the amount of jalapeño peppers to suit your spice preference. For a milder chowder, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeños before chopping.
Fresh herbs, such as oregano or basil, can be added in the last 15 minutes of cooking for an extra layer of flavor.
Serve with crusty bread or oyster crackers for a complete and satisfying meal.

The jalapeños give it a nice kick, but not too overpowering. I will definitely be making this again!
