Step

In a saucepan, combine the green tomatoes, tomatillos, garlic, and jalapenos. Add enough water to cover the vegetables. (Prep time: 5 minutes)

Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender. (Cook time: 15 minutes)

03

Step

Remove from heat, drain the vegetables, and allow them to cool slightly. (Cooling time: 10 minutes)

04

Step

In a blender or food processor, combine the avocados, cooked vegetables, sour cream, and cilantro. (Prep time: 5 minutes)

05

Step

Blend until smooth and creamy. (Blend time: 2-3 minutes)

06

Step

Season to taste with salt. (Taste & Season: 1 minute)

07

Step

Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. (Refrigerate: 30+ minutes)

For a smoother sauce, ensure your avocados are very ripe.
Adjust the amount of jalapeno to control the heat level.
If you prefer a thinner sauce, add a tablespoon or two of water or lime juice while blending.
This sauce is best served chilled. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

I found it a bit too spicy for my taste, so I reduced the jalapeno to just one. It was perfect after that! Thanks for the recipe.
