Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). (5 minutes)

02

Step

Using a sharp knife, score the fatty side of the ham in a diamond pattern, spacing the lines about 1 inch apart. Stud each intersection with a whole clove, if desired, for added aroma and visual appeal. Place the prepared ham in a shallow roasting pan and cover it securely with aluminum foil. (15 minutes)

03

Step

Bake the ham in the preheated oven for approximately 90 minutes to ensure it's heated through. While the ham bakes, prepare the glaze by measuring the apricot preserves into a small saucepan. Warm over medium heat until the preserves become liquid and easily spreadable. Remove from the heat and whisk in the honey mustard until fully incorporated. (95 minutes)

04

Step

About 10 minutes before the ham is finished, remove it from the oven and carefully brush the apricot-mustard glaze evenly over the entire surface. Return the ham to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, or until the glaze is beautifully browned and caramelized. Allow the ham to stand for about 10 minutes before carving and serving to allow the juices to redistribute. (45 minutes)

For a deeper flavor, consider adding a pinch of ground ginger or a dash of smoked paprika to the apricot glaze.
If you don't have honey mustard on hand, Dijon mustard with a drizzle of honey works as a great substitute.
To prevent the glaze from burning, keep a close eye on the ham during the final baking stage. If the glaze starts to darken too quickly, loosely tent the ham with foil.
The apricot glaze can be prepared a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator. Bring to room temperature before brushing onto the ham.
