Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a medium bowl, combine the refried beans and taco seasoning mix. Stir until well combined. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a separate bowl, soften the cream cheese by stirring until smooth. Gently fold in the prepared guacamole until evenly mixed. (5 minutes)

03

Step

Lay a flour tortilla on a clean work surface. Spread approximately 1/2 cup of the bean mixture evenly over the tortilla. Top with 1/2 cup of the guacamole mixture, spreading it in an even layer. (5 minutes)

04

Step

Tightly roll the tortilla into a log, moistening the far edge with a bit of water to seal. Repeat with the remaining tortillas and mixtures. (15 minutes)

05

Step

Wrap each rolled tortilla log tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight, to allow them to firm up. (1 hour - overnight)

06

Step

Before serving, unwrap the chilled tortilla rolls and trim off the ends to create clean, even edges. Slice each roll into 1-inch thick pieces. (10 minutes)

07

Step

Place each slice into a paper cupcake liner. Garnish each 'firecracker' by inserting a thin strip of red chile pepper into the top to resemble a wick. Sprinkle with chopped green onions. (15 minutes)

For a spicier kick, use a hotter taco seasoning mix or add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the bean mixture.
If you want to make these ahead of time, the filled and sliced firecrackers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before serving. Add the red pepper 'wicks' and green onions just before serving to maintain freshness.
Feel free to experiment with different types of beans, such as black beans or pinto beans, for a unique flavor twist.
For a vegetarian option, ensure that your taco seasoning and refried beans are vegetarian-friendly.
