Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). (5 minutes)

02

Step

Heat vegetable oil in a Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat. Sear the pork roast on all sides until evenly browned, creating a rich crust. (15 minutes)

03

Step

Pour beer over the pork, nestle the sliced onion around the roast. Cover the Dutch oven tightly and transfer to the preheated oven.

04

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until the pork is incredibly tender and easily shreds with a fork. (2 hours)

05

Step

Remove the Dutch oven from the oven. Using two forks, shred the pork directly in the pot. Return the Dutch oven to the stovetop over medium heat.

06

Step

Cook and stir, allowing the onions to caramelize and the beer to reduce into a flavorful glaze, coating the shredded pork. (15 minutes)

07

Step

Season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Serve hot on burger buns with your favorite toppings like coleslaw or BBQ sauce.

For an even deeper flavor, consider using a darker beer like a stout or porter.
If you don't have a Dutch oven, a large oven-safe pot with a tight-fitting lid will work.
The cooking time may vary depending on the size and cut of the pork roast. Check for tenderness after 1.5 hours and adjust accordingly.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
