Follow The Directions

01

Step

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.

02

Step

Add chopped onion, green bell pepper, and cilantro to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is softened and translucent, approximately 5-10 minutes.

03

Step

In a separate large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain off any excess fat. (5-10 minutes)

04

Step

Increase heat to medium-high. Stir in brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, onion powder, Greek seasoning, hamburger seasoning, garlic powder, black pepper, smokehouse maple seasoning, smoked salt, and nutmeg. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a gentle boil, about 4-6 minutes.

05

Step

Stir the onion and pepper mixture into the beef mixture. Reduce heat to low and simmer.

06

Step

Pour in barbeque sauce, ketchup, and apple cider vinegar. Stir well to combine. Cover the skillet and simmer for at least 30 minutes, or up to an hour, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

07

Step

Toast hamburger buns lightly. Spoon a generous amount of the Sloppy Joe mixture onto the bottom bun and top with the other half. Serve immediately.

For an extra layer of flavor, try adding a pinch of red pepper flakes for a subtle kick.
Feel free to adjust the amount of seasonings to your personal preference. Taste as you go and make adjustments as needed.
If you prefer a smoother sauce, you can use an immersion blender to partially blend the mixture after simmering.
