For an even richer flavor, consider using brown butter in place of regular butter. If you don't have challah bread, brioche or Texas toast make excellent substitutes. Adjust the amount of cinnamon to your preference. A pinch of nutmeg can also be a delicious addition. For a crisper exterior, lightly dust the soaked challah slices with flour before cooking. Leftover French toast can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet or microwave.
