Follow The Directions

01

Step

Prepare the Ribs: Cut the spareribs into individual rib pieces. In a bowl, toss the ribs with 1 teaspoon of garlic powder. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Sear the Ribs: Heat the vegetable oil in a Dutch oven or large pot over medium-high heat. Brown half of the ribs in the hot oil until nicely colored. Remove the browned ribs and set aside. Brown the remaining ribs. (15 minutes)

03

Step

Combine and Simmer: Drain any excess fat from the pot. Return all the ribs to the pot. Stir in the water, reduced-sodium soy sauce, dry sherry, and packed brown sugar. (5 minutes)

04

Step

Simmer to Perfection: Cover the pot and simmer over low heat for 1 hour, or until the ribs are tender and the sauce has thickened. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. (60 minutes)

05

Step

Serve: Serve the finger-licking ribs immediately, garnished with your favorite herbs or spices. Enjoy!

For a richer flavor, consider adding a tablespoon of grated fresh ginger to the sauce.
If you prefer a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
These ribs are excellent served with steamed rice or mashed potatoes to soak up the delicious sauce.
Ensure even browning by not overcrowding the pot when searing the ribs; work in batches if necessary.
Adjust the simmering time based on the thickness of the ribs; smaller ribs may require less time.
