Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, chopped walnuts, melted butter, and brown sugar until well combined. Spread the mixture evenly onto a baking sheet. (5 minutes)

03

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown and crispy, approximately 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely. (20 minutes)

04

Step

In a large bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add the white sugar while continuing to beat until stiff, glossy peaks form. (10 minutes)

05

Step

In a small bowl, toss the sliced strawberries with lemon juice. Gently fold the strawberry mixture into the meringue until the mixture turns a delicate pink hue. Fold in the whipped cream until just incorporated, being careful not to overmix. (10 minutes)

06

Step

Crumble the cooled walnut mixture. Sprinkle 2/3 of the crumble evenly onto the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Spoon the strawberry meringue mixture over the crumble base, then sprinkle the remaining crumble over the top. (5 minutes)

07

Step

Place the dish in the freezer until the dessert is firm, approximately 2 hours. Remove from the freezer several minutes before serving to allow for easier slicing. (120 minutes)

For a richer flavor, use browned butter in the crumble topping.
If you don't have fresh strawberries, frozen strawberries can be used. Make sure to thaw and drain them well before using.
To prevent the crumble from becoming soggy, you can line the baking dish with parchment paper before adding the crumble base.
Garnish with fresh mint leaves or extra sliced strawberries before serving for an elegant presentation.
