Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). (5 minutes)

02

Step

Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic, and cook until fragrant (about 30 seconds). Add sliced mushrooms, and continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until softened and lightly browned (4 to 6 minutes). Season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. (10 minutes)

03

Step

Meanwhile, spread softened butter onto one side of each slice of bread. Gently press the buttered side of each bread slice into a muffin tin cup, forming a small bowl. (5 minutes)

04

Step

In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs and heavy cream. Stir in the cooled mushroom mixture until well combined. (3 minutes)

05

Step

Evenly divide the mushroom and egg custard among the toast cups in the muffin tin. Sprinkle the tops with freshly grated Parmesan cheese. (2 minutes)

06

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until the egg mixture is set and the tops are golden brown (about 20 minutes). Let cool slightly before serving. (2 minutes)

For a richer flavor, try adding a splash of dry sherry or white wine to the mushrooms while cooking.
Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese, such as Gruyere or Asiago.
These toast cups can be assembled ahead of time and baked just before serving.

I added a little truffle oil to the mushrooms and it took these to the next level!
