Follow The Directions

01

Step
11 mins

In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium-high heat until crispy. (10-12 minutes) Remove bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside on paper towels to drain. Once cool, crumble the bacon.

02

Step
6 mins

In the same skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking it up with a spoon. (5-7 minutes) Drain off any excess grease.

03

Step
0 mins

In a slow cooker, combine the crumbled bacon, ground beef, chopped onion, ketchup, and brown sugar. Mix well to combine.

04

Step
0 mins

Add the baked beans, Great Northern beans, pinto beans, and pork and beans to the slow cooker. Stir to incorporate all ingredients.

05

Step
4 hrs

Cook on Low for approximately 4 hours, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.

For a richer flavor, consider using a combination of different types of bacon, such as hickory-smoked and maple-cured.
To add a touch of spice, incorporate 1-2 diced jalapenos or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the slow cooker.
If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water and stir it into the beans during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
These cowboy beans are excellent served with cornbread, coleslaw, or grilled sausages.
