01 Step
Recipe View
In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, ketchup, and sriracha sauce until well combined. Set aside. (5 minutes)
02 Step
Recipe View
Place chicken pieces in a large bowl and sprinkle with cornstarch. Toss until each piece is evenly coated. (3 minutes)
03 Step
Recipe View
Turn on your Instant Pot® and select the 'Sauté' function. Add vegetable oil and let it heat up. (2 minutes)
04 Step
Recipe View
Add half of the chicken to the Instant Pot® in a single layer. Cook for 3 minutes, then flip the chicken and cook for an additional 2 minutes, until lightly browned. Remove the chicken and set aside on a plate. Repeat with the remaining chicken. (10 minutes)
05 Step
Recipe View
Pour chicken broth into the Instant Pot® and use a wooden spoon to scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pot. This process, known as deglazing, adds depth of flavor to the sauce. Turn off the 'Sauté' function. (3 minutes)
06 Step
Recipe View
Return all of the chicken to the Instant Pot®. Pour the honey-garlic mixture over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well coated with the sauce. (2 minutes)
07 Step
Recipe View
Close the lid and lock it in place. Select the 'Pressure Cook' or 'Manual' function on high pressure and set the timer for 2 minutes. Allow 10 minutes for the pressure to build inside the pot. (12 minutes)
08 Step
Recipe View
Once the cooking time is complete, carefully release the pressure using the quick-release method, following the manufacturer's instructions. Be cautious of the steam! (5 minutes)
09 Step
Recipe View
Once all the pressure is released and the valve has dropped, carefully open the lid. Stir the chicken to ensure it's evenly coated in the now thickened sauce. (2 minutes)
10 Step
Recipe View
Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. This dish pairs perfectly with steamed rice or quinoa. (2 minutes)
For a thicker sauce, after releasing the pressure, select the 'Sauté' function again and simmer the sauce for a few minutes until it reaches your desired consistency. Be sure to stir frequently to prevent burning.
Adjust the amount of sriracha to control the level of spiciness. For a milder dish, omit the sriracha entirely or use a very small amount.
This recipe also works well with chicken thighs. Simply adjust the cooking time to 3-4 minutes under high pressure.
For a complete meal, add some vegetables like broccoli florets or bell peppers to the Instant Pot® during the last minute of cooking.
