For a smoky flavor, add 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika to the sauce. To thicken the sauce after cooking, remove the shredded beef from the slow cooker. In a small bowl, whisk together 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water. Stir the cornstarch slurry into the sauce in the slow cooker. Cook on HIGH for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened to your liking. Return the shredded beef to the slow cooker and stir to combine. This barbecue beef is delicious served with coleslaw and pickles. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
