For an extra layer of flavor, try using dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet. If the frosting becomes too thick, add a tablespoon of milk or cream to thin it out. If it's too thin, add more confectioners' sugar, a tablespoon at a time. This frosting is best used immediately, but can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Bring to room temperature and re-whip before using.
