Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a heavy-bottomed pot, combine the ground beef, diced bell peppers, diced onion, minced garlic, flour, brown sugar, salt, pepper, and a pinch of cayenne. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Set the pot over medium-high heat. Break up the ground beef with a spoon and stir the mixture continuously until the meat is browned and crumbly, and most of the moisture has evaporated. (15 minutes)

03

Step

Stir in the chicken broth, ketchup, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well to combine, then bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened. (45 minutes)

04

Step

Preheat your oven's broiler and position a rack about 6 inches from the heat source. (5 minutes)

05

Step

Transfer the mixture to an oven-safe saucepan or dish. Sprinkle half of the shredded Cheddar cheese evenly over the top. Gently poke the cheese into the dip with a fork. Top with the remaining cheese. (5 minutes)

06

Step

Place the pan under the broiler and broil until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly browned. (5 minutes)

For a richer flavor, try using a combination of ground beef and ground pork.
Add a splash of hot sauce for an extra kick.
Serve with toasted baguette slices, tortilla chips, or celery sticks for dipping.
The dip can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

The only change I made was to use a little less ketchup because I don't like it too sweet. It turned out great!
