Follow The Directions

01

Step
5 mins

Combine navy beans, chicken broth, water, diced tomatoes, carrots, onion, and celery in an electric pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot). (5 minutes)

02

Step
1 mins

Seal the pressure cooker, ensuring the venting knob is set to 'Sealed'. Select the 'Manual' or 'Pressure Cook' setting and set the timer for 45 minutes on high pressure. (1 minute)

03

Step
20 mins

Once the cooking cycle is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally according to the manufacturer's instructions. (20 minutes)

04

Step
2 mins

Carefully remove the lid, stir in the pork and beans and chopped ham until well combined. (2 minutes)

05

Step
1 mins

Season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper to your liking. (1 minute)

For a smoky flavor, consider using smoked ham hock instead of chopped ham.
Adjust the amount of water to achieve your desired soup consistency.
To enhance the flavor further, sauté the carrots, onion, and celery in a little olive oil before adding them to the Instant Pot.
If you don't have an Instant Pot, this soup can be made on the stovetop. Simmer for about 2-3 hours, or until the beans are tender.
