Follow The Directions

01

Step

Engage the Instant Pot's Sauté function. Introduce the avocado oil, tilting the pot to ensure even coverage. Add the ground beef, onion, and bell pepper; season generously with salt and pepper. Sauté, stirring frequently, until the vegetables soften and the beef loses its pink hue (approximately 5-7 minutes). Drain off any excess grease.

02

Step

Incorporate the finely diced garlic into the pot and sauté for an additional 30 seconds, allowing its fragrance to bloom. Then, stir in the crushed tomatoes, apple cider vinegar, water, dark brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, tomato paste, dry mustard, and a pinch of red pepper flakes.

03

Step

Secure the Instant Pot lid, ensuring it's properly locked, and seal the vent. Select the High-Pressure setting and set the timer for 5 minutes. Allow the Instant Pot to build pressure, which may take 10-15 minutes.

04

Step

While the Sloppy Joe mixture is cooking, prepare the hamburger buns. Lightly toast them to your preference and generously butter each side.

05

Step

Once the 5-minute cooking cycle is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes. Then, carefully perform a quick release of any remaining pressure, following the manufacturer's instructions (approximately 5 minutes). Unlock and remove the lid.

06

Step

Generously spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture onto the toasted and buttered hamburger buns. Serve immediately and enjoy!

For a deeper flavor, consider browning the ground beef in a skillet before adding it to the Instant Pot.
Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to control the level of spice in the Sloppy Joes.
Feel free to experiment with different types of vinegar, such as balsamic or red wine vinegar, for a unique twist.
Serve with your favorite sides, such as coleslaw, potato salad, or corn on the cob, for a complete and satisfying meal.
