Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a medium bowl, combine the cracker crumbs and melted butter until evenly moistened. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan to create a compact crust. (10 minutes)

03

Step

Evenly sprinkle the chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, and chopped walnuts over the cracker crust. (5 minutes)

04

Step

Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the chip and nut layers, ensuring all areas are covered. (2 minutes)

05

Step

Sprinkle the shredded coconut evenly over the condensed milk layer. (1 minute)

06

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the coconut is lightly golden brown and the condensed milk is bubbly. (30 minutes)

07

Step

Remove from the oven and let cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. For cleaner cuts, chill the bars in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes after cooling to room temperature. (60 minutes)

For a more intense coconut flavor, toast the shredded coconut in a dry skillet over medium heat until lightly golden before adding it to the bars.
Feel free to experiment with different types of nuts, such as pecans or almonds, or add a pinch of sea salt to the cracker crust for an extra layer of flavor.
Store leftover bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week.

I found that chilling them is a must for cutting them neatly.

My coconut didn't get as golden as I wanted, but they still tasted great. Next time I'll try broiling them for a minute at the end.
